Theodora and Willebrordus and thei r 7 children left from (Charlois)Schaarloos, Zuid Holland to emigrate to Pella, Iowa on March 10, 1856. "Souvenir Hi story of Pella" lists 1856 arrivals as Scharf, William; Sch arf, Mrs. Wm.; Arie, Helena, Engeltje, Wilhelmina, Maria, a nd Adriana. under 1856 arrivals. Child 9 Willebrordus wa s not listed in arrivals Two other children had apparentl y died as children in the Netherlands. ( 1. Cornelia and 7 . Theodora) William was a carpenter.

Sylvia Westercamp said it was told that Dora Kraak's fathe r and mother had a lot of money. They disowned her becaus e she married William, who was poor and a servant for the f amily. Thus they came to the U.S. Willebrordis Martinus SCHARFF and Theodora C KRAAK had the following children:
